I am a teenager quickly approaching
adulthood, and I’m dealing with the typical teenage anxieties: worrying about
whether or not I’ll have a date to my Junior prom, figuring out where I want to
go to college, and trying to find a way to pay for it. I am wandering through a tunnel, and I have
yet to see the end; but that’s okay because I have some lovely support. Nearly seventeen years ago, my mom and dad
welcomed me, their middle child and only girl, into the world. Zack, my older brother, just entered his sophomore
year at college, and my younger brother Noah is in the seventh grade.
My first name means “little bird in
a meadow,” and I think that sums me up perfectly. I flit around in my life, always on the move
from one place to the next. And I’m
short, as I am so often reminded.
In my spare time, I enjoy writing
fiction and the occasional poem, walking my dog, curling up on the couch with a
good book and a cup of tea, watching the Lord
of the Rings movies, and going for long walks on the beach. (Okay, scratch that last one!) I despise running (unless I’ve had entirely
too much coffee and need to burn off the caffeine-induced energy). Some days, (actually most days), I’m a bit of
a freak about grammar. Sentences like,
“This project is the product of the combined efforts of she and I,” drive me
crazy!
Words, for me, are like charcoal
for an artist. I sketch away at a blank
piece of paper until a black and white image appears. The only difference is that with my medium,
you can taste, smell, hear, and feel, as well as you can see.
Welcome to my completely average,
(and occasionally comical), teenage story.
Foxy J is hilariously witty (like her aunt) and much better with words.
